Gather 'round kids, I gots a story. Designer Cody Ross of Priestess NYC hit me up with a little intro about his womens/unisex clothing line and a couple pics from the latest collection. My first instinct was SPAM but something about his email seemed legit so I did some digging and the line is actually hot. I'm feeling those OshKosh B'Gosh style unisex jackets. You know I'd rock the hell out of those. The sleeveless denim pullover is also hot. I could totally see someone like Santogold workin' that piece.

For serious I just love how energetic and fun the line is. I know Cody's got talent and it lights a fire under my ass to hurry up and finish my men's collection. Hopefully I'll make it out to NYC soonish to his atelier. GOD I really love that first jacket. Let's envisage that jacket paired with Juun J. leggings and sheer shorts. HOT! Speaking of which, hit the jump to see what Cody looks like. Dude is drop dead gorgeous.

BOMBER is a word I picked up in Oregon. It refers to anything so on-point and hot.

9h_01.jpg

Unfamiliar with capsule hotels? They're pretty common in Japan. Worker bees (people, not actual bees) sometime work such late hours it's better to stay in the city overnight instead of making the long commute home. Capsule hotels provide refuge often consisting of a narrow box compartment, pillow and blanket. The pricier ones have TVs.

The 9h (nine hours) concept by Masaaki Hiromura and Takaaki Nakamura makes the whole idea chic - enough for everyone? I can imagine a group of friends renting out several compartments for a little overnight stay. This is far more luxurious than the norm and all those amenities like bottled water and towel service makes you almost forget you're sleeping in a closet... almost.

A group at the Computer Vision Laboratory at Columbia University have designed and built a prototype digital camera that should demystify the devices. The BigShot digital camera kit, when it hits the market, will be a box of all the necessary parts for kids to be able to build their own simple, candy-colored digital camera.

I'm loving this idea. I used to take shit apart when I was a kid and could easily put them back together. I often had no clue what a component was but could deduce what it did. A great way to learn, tho to the dismay of my parents. Note: not every tear down was a successful one.

Seriously, my two favorite male models shot by one amazeballs photographer. I would die, like go buh-nanas (sorry, bad Rachel Zoe impression) if either of them photograph in my clothes. It has nothing to do with their hotness.

ajandkerry3.jpg ajandkerry4.jpg ajandkerry5.jpg

AJ reminds me of a Care Bear. Something about his eyes. They draw you in. No doubt why photographers seem to really hone in on his amazing eyes.

ajandkerry1.jpg ajandkerry2.jpg ajandkerry8.jpg

Kerry is the total opposite. Photographers intentionally play up how fucking sexy he is. I like him because he reminds me of that guy in high school - you know the one. Super hot, popular but not arrogant and defends the gay kids. Just an all around nice guy and somehow those qualities radiate from his photos. More photos of each after the jump!
ceramic_speaker_side.jpg

Joey Roth is one of my favorite independent product designers. I own his Sorapot teapot and use it almost daily. Now he has Ceramic Speakers to add to him name and they look fantastic!

The Ceramic Speakers are made from porcelain, cork, and Baltic birch. Each material is minimally finished, left to add its natural beauty to the design. The included amplifier is made from stainless steel sheet metal, with a cast iron base and paulownia volume slider. Aside from the electronic components, plastic is rarely used.

Typical speakers are designed to play even the most compressed or poorly recorded track. They gloss over the details that give high-resolution music its depth. The Ceramic Speakers' custom-made drivers, porcelain and cork enclosures, and Tripath amplifier reveal every nuance. They will show the difference between lossless and mp3 files, and will unlock vinyl's richness.

Binding posts, 1/8″ jacks, and banana plugs have been perfected through years of electronic design. It would be arrogant to replace these simple, effective standards with proprietary connectors. Due to their open design, the Ceramic Speakers work with nearly all high-quality components. The terminals also have a utilitarian beauty that the design emphasizes rather than hides.

If you like it then you shoulda put ring on it a.k.a Joey is taking pre-orders now. $495 plus free shipping.

Evil or Goodluck?

fleeceflower-root.jpg

Stunned farmer Zheng Dexun dug up a crop of fleeceflower, or Chinese knotweed, and found one shaped like a person, in Langzhong, China. The eerie-looking plant, measuring 62 centimetres tall, has clearly defined arms, legs, and head. Zheng said:

"I don't know whether it is good or bad to dig out a Chinese knotweed that looks like a human. I'd better put it back in the earth!"

Damn right! My momma always told me if anything looks human comes your way and isn't - it could be a spirit incarnated as an object to trick you. Stay away!

Stuffing a Wii-mote down a stuffed doll to interact with a game? HELL YEAH! I want this game now. Call it, me kiddie I don't care. I still play with my stuffed dolls (shuddup) so this is second nature to me. I have a vivid imagination mmkay?

No idea when Wiiwaa out but rest assured I will be one of 3 grown ups in line on launch day.

Bave Circus

I'm not gonna give much away because you HAVE to watch this amazing short called Bave Circus. On a rainy afternoon, a child plays with his snails and falls along with them into a dreamy circus.

Wish I were a kid again.

I got my tickets to see Röyksopp on the 18th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, did you? They're only playing four shows in the States so it pays to see them if you can. If you can't, well then I feel for you but enjoy their latest video The Girl And The Robot feat. Robyn.

Damn the Scandinavians make such good dance music.

It's Huge

juliangothe_01.jpg

I don't know what it is but it's HUGE. I'm thinking either a giant candle pillar or some alien inspired torch lamp. I want it in my living room. Interested? This wonderful piece is part of Julian Göthe's exhibition Events During Flood at the Galerie Buchholz in 2008.

YES this is too perfect. Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana tweeted these behind the scenes moments from their recent ad campaign shoot. I need more! Don't forget to hit the jump!

Look Ma, No Chains!

inner_city_bike.jpg

Jruiter Studio's Inner City Bike looks fantastic. There's a huge emphasis on simplicity thus the absence of a chain. The pedals are attached right to the rear wheel. It's basically a unicycle with a front wheel. Problem is the angle at which the feed and legs rest while pedaling doesn't provide efficient transfer of energy. I'm sure it's fine for level city streets but even the slightest incline might leave your breathless.

Paperclip Necklace

paperclip_necklace.jpg

I love the apparent simplicity of this paperclip necklace by Lauren Manoogian. To me it's more beautiful than any precious metal or stone. I love the geometry, the colors and its intent - everyday objects made beautiful.

Reed and Rader

reedandrader.jpg

I stumbled upon this duo called Reed and Rader while writing over at Black Bunneh. Their photos are fun, dynamic and artistic without being contrived. There's a big emphasis on fashion and style so naturally I was drawn in. Hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to work with them on my project Panda Makings Making Pandas.
larsburmeister1.jpg

Nothing against model Lars Burmeister but these dogs are so handsome. Such beautiful creatures. For some reason whenever I see photographed dogs, my mind instantly goes to a place of anger towards those who hurt them. How can anyone hurt such enigmatic creatures?

Back to the scenery at hand. Lars could look sexy wearing a potato sack so I'm not surprised but in the hands of photographer Jimmy Backius, it all comes together - the environment, the model, the dogs and the clothes. In my naivety I will continue to picture Alaska this way, not Levi Johnston.
